Before You Request Archival Photographs

Reproduction Photographs from the Archives

Interested in a vintage photo from our archives or Wayback Wednesday feature? We’re proud to offer access to thousands of historic images capturing the people, places, and stories that shaped Clinton County. From Main Street scenes to school sports teams, we have a wide range of photographs available for reproduction.

Unless you know exactly which image you’re seeking, an in-person visit is preferred so we can provide access to numerous organized boxes based on topic. These appointments typically last one-hour with our executive director. During your visit, we’ll sit down with you and go through boxes of carefully organized photographs, using archival tools and gloves to safely handle each one. You’ll have the chance to browse, brainstorm, and select your favorite images!

Common topics include:

  • Clinton County People & Businesses A–Z

  • Main Street Wilmington & Prominent Streets

  • Quakers and Society of Friends, Meeting Houses
  • Clinton County Courthouse, Fire & Police Departments

  • Bicentennial & Centennial Events

  • Bands, Sports Teams & School Activities

  • Wilmington College, WC Fraternities and Sororities

  • County Fairs, Sabina, Blanchester, Outlying Townships & More!

Donation & Reproduction Options:

  • A donation of $10–$12 per image is requested to help preserve the collection (covers archival sleeves, boxes, acid-free tissue, etc.)

  • Reproductions are available as:

    • 4×6 or 5×7 in-house prints

    • High-resolution digital scans (800 dpi) — ideal for enlargements, business use, or creative projects

  • A $5 USB fee applies if you do not bring your own thumb drive for digital copies

Please note: To protect the integrity of our photo archives we do not allow unsupervised access to our archives, and all appointments must be scheduled in advance. See our Photo Reproduction Agreement Letter here.

Authors, publishers, and writers seeking images for publication must speak with the Center’s Director prior to use or reproduction. Permissions and additional guidelines may apply.
